Chennai: “Businesses always follow the concept of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity). Disruptions are a part and parcel of any business. When everything is going fine a disruption can either completely shatter prospects or do the exact opposite. The only means through which we can sustain is by adopting a business model and venture capital,” said Tamilnadu Culture Minister Ma Foi Pandiarajan.
He was speaking at the inaugural event of National Institute of Personnel Management’s (NIPM) 36th National Conference (NATCON) 2017 in Chennai.
This year’s theme revolves around the role of a HR in a business management. Explaining further about sustaining disruptions, Pandiarajan, said, ‘I myself had faced many disruptions in the past. In fact, in the 1990s, there was neither a business model nor experts to guide us. These tremors will reset our boundaries as that is what happened to me. When we are facing such adversities, we should rewrite our business plans and adopt newer strategies.’
As a word of advice for HRs, Pandiarajan, said, “HRs should hold a perception beyond corporate world. They should figure out what the company needs and carve a niche for themselves. They should not root themselves to a single strategy but instead act as an anchor. When the conditions are not favourable, they should remove the anchor and place it where the prospects are high.”
During the inaugural event, NLC chairman and MD S K Acharya, NIPM national president Somesh Dasgupta, chairman S Rajappan and secretary MH Raja were also present.
